What is OCRD?

OCRD standards for Obsessive Compulsive Reef Disorder.  Its a term given to me (in a not so loving way) by my wife to describe my addiction to reefkeeping.  If you are a reefkeeper or the spouse of a reefkeeper, you understand.  And, once the addiction starts, its hard to control.  It never ceases to amaze my wife how I can get so excited over a little stick (SPS coral).

This site is dedicated to reef tank and all that goes into it.  Sometimes it delves into relationship issues caused by the tank, but that is just part of the journey.

Reefing Glossary

Many people who are new to reefing don’t know what all the acronyms mean, so here is a list of several with their meaning.

• GENERAL

  • LFS (Local Fish Store): Your local hangout, for better or worse
  • FTS (Full Tank Shot): A picture of the entire tank, not just a partial
  • QT (Quarantine Tank): This is the special tank used to hold new fish purchases to ensure they are healthy.  Protects from adding a sick fish that wipes out the entire DT
